9:15 - 9:40 AM A universal model for China-Africa cooperation
A transferable investment model that maximizes value and investor returns could benefit African countries. Such a model would facilitate partnerships and increase collaborations between investors, governments, and African businesses, which in turn would lead to greater access to capital. The model should help encourage sustainable development and help preserve the environment.

1ST PANEL DISCUSSION
9:40 - 11:30 AM Developing Businesses in Africa in Partnership with Chinese Investors
The panel will set the scene by discussing the challenges surrounding the development of businesses in Africa. Areas covered will include availability and access to finance, training, management education, and the empowerment of small and medium sized enterprises in partnerships with Chinese investors and governments. The impact of Chinese investment on businesses and industries across Africa will also be discussed as will building capacity in health-care, power and energy, developing a self-sufficient agricultural sector, sustaining development across sectors of tourism, ICT, banking and finance, and mining. Opportunities for partnerships and collaborations, apprenticeships, joint ventures, secondments between businesses in Africa and China will also be examined.

2ND PANEL DISCUSSION
11:45 - 13:00 PM Towards partnerships of agricultural self-sufficiency
The current state of Agriculture in Africa and China, and opportunities available for Chinese agricultural know how and technology to partner the industry in Africa, adding value to the supply chains, empowerment of subsistence farmers, and developing sustainable food security across the continent.
Experiences from countries across the continent will be used to explore areas including ways to partner foreign agricultural developmental agencies, and overseas investors to build productivity; training in the science of crop production; how to cooperate and partner with the private sector; making the most of technology and equipment to improve efficiencies; how to get the land, labor, product mix, and distribution right to match market forces and demand.

WORKSHOPS DAY ONE

14:30 - 17:30 PM (1) BANKING AND FINANCE WORKSHOP
Developing businesses in Africa and China through better exploitation and coordination of finance, collaborations and partnerships. The workshop will focus on practical ways to the transfer the successful China-Africa relations that exist between governments to businesses in the private sectors, including micro enterprises. The workshop will also look at the contributions that governments, bankers, and financers, at national and regional levels need to contribute in order to facilitate the process and make it work. It will examine the role that banks need to play in making relations between businesses in China and Africa lasting and sustainable, and the visible and not so visible support structures needed in communities to kick-start the process.

14:30 - 17:30 PM (2) PARTNERING TO BUILD SMES AND MICRO ENTERPRISES IN AFRICA
An analysis of SMEs in Africa and China, things they have in common, and their differences, including language and cultural barriers. The workshop will look at pan regional institutions that can assist with the process of building ties and connecting businesses of both regions by helping to overcome cultural and language obstacles.

14:30 - 17:30 PM (3) TOURISM DESTINATIONS
The workshop will discuss ways to build a bilateral tourist trade between Africa and China as well as the best ways to increase visitor numbers and get investments into tourist accommodation and leisure facilities, and other industries that support the tourist trade such as airlines, safaris and tour operators.

1ST PANEL DISCUSSION
9:00 - 10:15 AM Power and Energy
Discussions will focus on the importance of local involvement in exploiting the regions energy resources such as oil and gas. Using the experiences gained from Nigeria and Sudan, and with the help of case studies, the experts will examine areas including the different ways to form collaborations and joint ventures with foreign investors, local players, and indigenous corporations; how local SMEs and Micro enterprises can be empowered, and the best way to transfer skills and resources to them; how local businesses can build their capacity and resources to compete in local and global markets; the best way to partner investors to create diversity in power generation and distribution across Africa through better use of markets and private suppliers. The panel will also look at areas in Africa¡¯s power sector that could be opened to investors that will bring electricity to remote areas where national power grids fail to reach.

2ND PANEL DISCUSSION
10:15 - 11:15 AM Tourism
Tourism experts will discuss the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and how Africa can exploit the event to create a sustainable and diverse sporting, tourist, and business legacy across the entire region. They will talk about how the event can be used to build a lasting legacy that will increase capacity in tourist venues as well as help SMEs and Micro-businesses. The panel members will look at different ways of enticing holiday-makers into areas such as eco-tourism and how the Chinese can partner South Africa in building a 2010 legacy, by transferring experiences and skills gained from the 2008 Beijing Olympics into the organization and management of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

3RD PANEL DISCUSSION
11:30 - 13:00 PM Health and Medicare
The panel will look at issues surrounding the prevention, and care, of communicable and non-communicable diseases in Africa. The experts will delve into areas such as the role of Chinese medicine and health-care in Africa; the different way that China is partnering with, and investing in, Africa especially in areas such as the fight against HIV/AIDS/ TB and Malaria; how Chinese investors can profit from supporting health-care in Africa; the importance of training health professionals and investing in hospitals buildings and the need for reliable emergency services (ambulances), drugs, doctors, and other well trained health professionals.

WORKSHOPS DAY TWO

14:30 - 17:30 PM (1) WIRELESS FOR PARTNERSHIPS
Wireless Technology has revolutionized African societies, offering connectivity to millions of people. It has linked rural and urban areas, and businesses to businesses. In some countries wireless technology provides transfers of funds across communities and countries, which is a welcome benefit for people without access to bank accounts. The workshop looks at how different wireless technologies can develop relations between businesses in Africa and China and how increased connectivity can bring about more collaboration and overcome differences in languages, culture, and enhance transparency.

The workshop looks at some of the ongoing projects, with a capacity for new entrants, and new projects where Chinese and other investors can participate.

14:30 - 17:30 PM (3) MINING
The workshop will examine the state of mining in Africa and Chinese interests in the industry. The workshop looks to find mining projects and areas where Chinese investors can partner with governments and local or foreign organizations. The workshop will also discuss what types of partnerships and investments can empower local communities and bring new jobs, skills, and confidence to Africa.
