Nigeria
Nigeria is the largest country in Africa in terms of population, 140 million people in total. The nation is internationally renowned for its lucrative oil industry which attracts the biggest foreign investments of all African countries.
The nation’s health and Medicare technology industry is however potentially an even bigger industry than oil and gas. It is however fragile with very little capacity to satisfy the strong demand from the country’s massive population, many of whom have to travel outside of Nigeria in search of supplies.
The rest of Africa, in particular countries in the ECOWAS region are looking to Nigeria to respond to the needs of the people of the continent in terms of leadership, capacity building and development. The conference provides an ideal platform for Nigeria to respond where the delivery of health care is concerned.
