With Africa possessing abundant natural resources and a major emerging market of the future, the Summit is perfectly timed and is a first class opportunity for key stakeholders in markets in the region to participate with governments and businesses from China and Africa to define the future of investment and economic development in the continent.

The Summit kicks off with an Opening Gala Dinner featuring a line-up of esteemed leaders from businesses and governments including the China Africa Business Council, the PRC Government and strong representation from the private and public sectors of both regions.

The Summit will continue the agenda of the first China Africa Summit at Beijing in 2006. It will include several plenary sessions surrounding trade, investments and business and challenging the obstacles impeding development in Africa, including the continent's poor contribution to the global economy. Other highlights include several Panel Discussions, an InvestorsĄ¯ Forum and several Workshops that are designed to engage businesses and governments from different African countries and from China and Africa. Content will include the current state of Chinese investments and trade with Africa and impact upon development in Africa; An new era of China Africa Trade Relations; Capacity for new Chinese investment in specific market and industry sectors, and Systems to publish and monitor Chinese investments on a national basis which could be used as a guide for other African countries seeking similar inputs.

Delegates will be able to participate in several of the workshops. Workshops include industries, mining, agribusiness, oil & Gas, infrastructure, water, power, road, rails, telecommunication, renewable energy, urban development and renewal, Investment Banking, Finance, city planning and development, leisure and sports, communication technologies as well as social sector, health and education.

Complimenting the sector-specific plenary sessions, is an exhibition show to promote companies' products, services, and capabilities to potential buyers and customers throughout China and Africa.

The conference and exhibition will become a biannual medium exhibiting Chinese investments and technology to the core of trade and enterprises in Africa for the benefit of African governments, economies, businesses and people.
